Hockey Dreams Do Come True as Pittsburgh Hornet Alumni Nate Guenin makes his NHL Pro Debut this Evening !

The Pittsburgh Hornets announce with great pride that former Pittsburgh Hornet and Ohio State Buckeye Nate Guenin is scheduled to make his NHL pro debut this evening with the Philadelphia Flyers as they battle the New York Islanders in Long Island this evening. Nate will be skating side by side with another former Pittsburgh Hornet in the NHL, R.J. Umberger, giving the Philly Flyers a distinct Pittsburgh connection.

Nate was one of the most popular Pittsburgh Hornet players ever in our organization and had a brilliant career in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers and continued to blossom and excel with the Ohio State Buckeyes under the tutelage of top NCAA Coaches John Markell and Casey Jones. Confirming his great attitude and demonstrated leadership abilitites, Nate finished off his NCAA Division 1 career as captain of the OSU hockey team.

Legendary "old time" hockey player and one of the best AAA hockey coaches in the country Coach Dave Hanson captures the pride we all have in Nate with the following statement:

"Tonight, another former player of the Pittsburgh Hornets Hockey Association and product of Pittsburgh Youth Hockey, Nate Guenin, will be playing in his first NHL game for the Philadelphia Flyers tonight against the NY Islanders, along with another former Pittsburgh youth hockey and Pittsburgh Hornets alumni, R.J. Umberger. They also were teammates at Ohio State University. This is a great day for Nate and his family and Pittsburgh hockey. Hopefully, it is one of many to come and another prime example of what a Pittsburgh hockey player can accomplish by dedicating himself through hard work, good attitude, good coaching and going down a right path. Nate represents the best that the Hornets and Pittsburgh has to offer on and off the ice and I am sure he will make us all proud. Congratulations to Nate and all players who are trying to follow in his footsteps."

Well said Coach Dave, well said. And congratulations again to Nate, way to go, you have made all of the amateur hockey people in Western Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh Hornets Hockey Association very, very proud. Best of luck in your NHL pro debut.
