Amazing Comeback ! Hornets sting Dallas Stars for a 7-6 win !

The “Comeback Kids” of the Pittsburgh Hornets mounted a furious comeback and defeated the Dallas Stars 7-6 this morning to move into the Buffalo Saints Columbus Day Classic championship game at 2pm against the Boston Bruins AAA Prep Team. The Hornets were down 4-1 midway through the 1st period against a gritty Dallas Stars team when a relentless Furman South got the ball rolling with his first goal of the game. Then a crafty Gerry Raymond capitalized on a delayed penalty call and scored to make it a 4-2 game. Momentum continued to surge when powerful Matt Celyn unleashed a wicked slapshot from the point to make it a 4-3 game at the end of the 1st. Dallas refused to quit and competed strong in the second, but the Comeback Kids were not rattled and Mark Polidor made it a 4-4 game in the 2nd period. The Hornets unleashed their fury in the 3rd as Furman South, Gerry Raymond and Pat Gaul toasted the Dallas goalie again with scores to punch up a 7-4 lead midway through the 3rd. Give credit to the Dallas Stars as they tried to mount their own gritty comeback, scoring timely goals with 3 minutes and 40 seconds left in the 3rd period respectively, but the original “Comeback Kids” would not be denied, holding on to a final 7-6 amazing victory. The Greater Boston Bruins, who defeated Victory Honda in the other semi-final match, will now square off for the tournament championship against the Pittsburgh Hornet “Comeback Kids” today at 2pm.
